GET
THE DIRT OUT
Georgia
Construction Stormwater Project
Help
Get the Dirt Out of our streams and rivers!
Sediment carried by stormwater runoff from construction sites in
Georgia has been documented as the leading source of non-point
source pollution to streams, lakes and rivers throughout
Georgia.
If you’ve noticed you local waterway running red with Georgia clay due to a local construction
site, YOU can help! As a concerned citizen, YOU can participate in
the Get the Dirt Out project
and help reduce polluted stormwater runoff from construction sites
by: documenting the erosion and sediment problem or related issue,
contacting the appropriate local and state officials, and
following up.
The
Get the Dirt Out Citizens
Training Workshop will help you understand what you can do to protect the quality and quantity of your drinking water, protect your property from erosion due to construction stormwater runoff, and protect the health of your local streams.
This workshop is a 2-3 hour training that will teach you how to spot problems on local construction sites, who to call if you see a problem, and how to follow up with the authorities to make sure the problems get fixed.
