Our group participates in activities that promote environmental stewardship such as clean up programs for parks, nature centers, hiking/biking trails, and/or streams/rivers.
Our
group has recently adopted a stream which will entail us monitoring a segment of
an artery of Peachtree Creek for pollutants and water quality through guidelines
of the Georgia Adopt-A-Stream Program. [read more about this
project]
In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, we encourage carpooling whenever possible especially when outings are outside of the Atlanta area.
Our
organization operates our membership and event payment process almost exclusively
electronically. This eliminates paper checks, energy and transportation in the mail and bank/Federal Reserve systems, additional trips to the Post Office to check mail, and trips to the bank to make deposits. This adds up to less impact on the environment
in addition to drastically reduces the administration involved in processing event payments.

In support of
the environment and clean water, we are a member of the Georgia Adopt-A-Stream
Program, Georgia Pollution Prevention Assistance Division Partnership
Program, EPA Waste Wise Partnership Program, Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, and the Georgia Water
Coalition. We also participate in the Rivers
Alive and the
National River Cleanup Week annual river/stream clean-up programs.
