Hotlanta
Adventures is a younger-adult
(18 to youthful <50) volunteer-based club that provides the
opportunity to make new acquaintances and build friendships
while experiencing the adventures of the great outdoors and other
similar shared interest. Our main goals are fun, fitness,
and friendships while engaging in adventurous, social, and educational
activities that create an appreciation of our
surroundings.
Some of our excursions include hiking,
camping, urban/mountain
biking/cycling, whitewater rafting, caving/spelunking, horseback riding,
canoeing, kayaking,
rappelling, rock climbing, cabining, fishing, geocaching, and other outdoor activities.
Other social functions
may involve mixers, movie
nights, cookouts, dinners, potlucks, pool parties, Braves games,
or going to the zoo or the Georgia Aquarium.
We
also
participate in activities that promote environmental stewardship
such as clean up programs for parks, hiking/biking trails,
and/or streams/rivers.
Most
of our group members are novices to many of our outdoor
activities with some being more experienced outdoor enthusiast. We
welcome all experience levels who are egger to participate in
our
fun, fitness, and friendship activities.

We
set up many part- and full-day outings in the Metro Atlanta area,
North Georgia mountains, and other areas within a couple hours drive. Destinations further than
that are typically
overnight or multiple-day trips. We sometimes combine activities into a fun weekend
getaway staying in some cabins or camping at a state park or other fun
area, hang out and socialize with a nice
group of men and women in a different atmosphere than the typical city scene.

GROUP
DEMOGRAPHICS
Our
group is a diverse mix of collegiate, boy/girl next door, athletic/jock,
preppy, trendy, average and/or regular types of nice, fun,
younger professional men and women that that like outdoor
adventure activities who are also relatively fit/in-shape (not necessarily gym
built) and clean cut types. Our younger adult age
range is 18 to those who are youthful under 50.
One
of our goals is for this to be a group
of men and women who have more in common than just their enjoyment of the
outdoors making it easier to cultivate better friendships. There
are a variety of outdoor groups in Atlanta plus several campgrounds in Georgia that cater to different types of
crowds and as such, we are only trying to fill our nitch and to
have a comfortable atmosphere for those who are looking for
something different than the typical Metro Atlanta social groups. We do not want this to be a click'ish or pretentious
group,
just people who like doing similar activities and for it to be more enjoyable
for those involved.
We
welcome men and women regardless of race or sexual orientation and as such we
are a diverse group with a mix of straight and gay, men and women, and various
racial backgrounds that are legal US residents. Most of the members are single
but we have a good mix of couples.
Our
group started in April 2005
and we now have over 2,000 members. Most of our members are from the Metro
Atlanta area, with some from other parts of Georgia, and a few in neighboring
states.
